I lived my early childhood in the U.S. and garage sales were already well entrenched in my culture and in my family’s customs, so much so that my mom, once she came to Switzerland, organized this kind of garage sale in my grandmother’s garage. In the U.S. it caught on with individuals and families, who often for reasons of relocation sold used items and furniture still in good condition right out of their garage or in their backyard.
