THE EXPERIENCE OF TRANSFORMATION IN MARRAKECH

If you wish to visit Marrakech and create, transform your old clothes through the art of restyling, we invite you to the heart of the Medina for this new adventure. It will be an experiential and metamorphic journey because while you cut, undo, mend, embroider and sew your old clothes you will get in touch with your soul. By transforming the old, meaning your past, you make space for new horizons, new dreams, and bring new blood into your life. The suitcase and trip represent what we are, our baggage and our growth. This workshop and trip offers a great opportunity to learn to let go of what is no longer in tune with the person you are now and make something new to wear with your own hands and creativity.

What is the workshop about?

You will discover a new city, a new country, its culture, its flavours, its tradition, its craftsmanship, while creating something for yourself, inspired by what you’ll experience and discover every day. What you’ll pack is important: we recommend to bring mainly clothes you no longer use but for some mysterious reason you can get rid of (max 5 items). At the end of the trip these clothes will not be the same and perhaps you won’t be either! The days will be partly dedicated to creative work and sewing and partly to city sightseeing. There will be plenty of free time available to wander on your own. The workshop will be led by Sandra von Rubenwil.

Why Marrakech?

In Marrakech you’ll find the perfect balance in a dimension that contrasts the silence inside the Riad and the chaos and colors of the Medina, the sensation you get is that of constantly experiencing opposites in a very natural way: peace and movement, beauty and neglect, kindness and boldness. It is a place with incredible vitality, where colors, tastes and aromas are accentuated and craftsmanship is an integral part of life. Here you will find plenty of handmade accessories, ribbons, buttons, fabrics and much more. There are many places to visit and you can get lost in the intricate alleys of the Souk. And then there’s Riad “La lumière d’étoile”, a wonderful corner in the center of the Medina, fruit of Gio’s vision and refinement: the owner will make you feel at home.

Things to know before traveling to Morocco:

To enter Morocco you must have a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry. Riad La Lumière d’Etoile assumes no responsibility in the event of damage to property and/or people during the trip and stay, nor for theft or loss.
