The duo composed by Niccolò Monte Rizzi and Matisse Berg ranges from pieces of jazz standards to others repurposed, and to original compositions. Tonight they take us on a musical journey where acoustic (trumpet and double bass) and electronic (synthesizer, sound system, 5-string fretless bass) come together to make us dream. The evening will consist of two moments: the first acoustic and the second electronic.

Niccolò Monté Rizzi

Multi-instrumentalist and composer, specializing primarily in trumpet. He began studying trumpet with Sébastien Galley (first trumpet of the OSI), building a solid classical foundation and winning several national and regional competitions. In 2018 he won the national competition for young talents (Switzerland) and in the following two years (2019, 2020) the national competition City of Verona (Italy). He then enters the world of jazz music and at the age of 14 collaborates with Mauro Ghisletta in the Big Band of “Bande e Cuori” (RSI) for two editions. In 2020 he joins the Swiss National Brass Band, collaborating on several national tours. From 2021 he studies with important figures in Italian jazz such as Emilio Soana and Gabriele Comeglio, and participates in masterclasses with internationally renowned musicians such as Gil Evans, Chico Freeman, and Antonio Faraò. In 2022 he formed the group LowFive, with which he performed at nationally and internationally renowned clubs and festivals, playing several times at Jazz in Bess and the Ascona International Jazz Festival. In 2024 he recorded his first recording project “Wake Up (If You Want)” financed by the Swisslos fund and co-produced with Rinoceros Records. He is currently attending the first year of the three-year trumpet program at Siena Jazz University.

Matisse Berg

Italian-Belgian bassist and double bass player, studied electric bass with Ilario Longhi for 5 years, then jazz double bass with Marco Conti. Now he is at his first-year student at the Siena Jazz Academy where he is tutored by Silvia Bolognesi and Yuri Goloubev. Participates in the Sanremo Rock Festival and Sanremo GEF, and records the album “Travveling Light” with the project “Moonday Quartet,” with which he performs live on several occasions. Subsequently Wins the Varese Rugby Festival with the project “Attic Studio” with which he also records a single. Later he collaborates with Alessandro Cerea and Jacopo Fo in the production of theater shows, and works in the summer wedding season with the agency “Villa Bossi”.
